GREAT MEMORIES OF THE GRAND LADY
It was kind of sad yesterday as we went to Miami's venerable Orange Bowl to get set up for tonight's All-American Bowl. Growing up in South Florida, I have many great memories of going to the Orange Bowl to watch the University of Miami and the Miami Dolphins play. What a great venue. In the old days, they actually had a dolphin swimming in a huge tank behind the open end zone. The Orange Bowl practically oozes with history and tradition. It's too bad that decades of football will end tonight, as the All-American Bowl is the last football game ever to be played in the Orange Bowl. It is slated for demolition in the near future to make way for other uses.
The players went to the Orange Bowl to get the feel of the facility and have a walkthrough. Though few of them have any personal memories of the Orange Bowl, all were still awed at the majesty of the Grand Lady of South Florida football.
So, the stage is set. Both the East and West Teams have a brief walkthrough this morning before heading to the Orange Bowl to make preparations for their appearance on live national television on Fox College Sports.
From what I have seen this week, it's a game you won't want to miss!
