The Unveiling, Touching History for the First Time

Since the Bowl athletes have been in town they've had a chance to scratch the surface of football history by getting to meet and learn from their coaches, Terry Kirby and Cris Carter.  They also had the opportunity to meet special guest color commentary man Nate Newton.  While no doubt impressive, even these events may pale to what the players get to experience today.

The official uniforms for the 2008 Offense-Defense All-American Bowl will be revealed today, but that's only part of the fun.  More impressive is that these uniforms will be unveiled and modeled at Orange Bowl Stadium itself as the athletes go through their walkthrough followed by a quick photoshoot in their new duds and a short practice.

They will be taking the field for the first time where so many legendary wars of the past have been waged.  From Orange Bowls to Super Bowls, Wide Right to Hail Flutie, it's all happened here.  These young men will be writing the final chapter in a book of epic length.  One can't help but wonder if the sheer enormity of the situation has become apparent to them.  It will sink in as inevitable as the fact that you have to die and pay taxes.  At that point, there will be nothing left to do but what they do best.  Play wire-to-wire football, leaving everything on the field.

Pictures from today's events will be up on the site soon.

The big game is tomorrow.  Can't wait for kickoff!
