Miss America to sing National Anthem

Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson will be singing the National Anthem during the nationally televised Offense-Defense All-American Bowl in Miami, Florida on January 4th, 2008.  It will be the last football game ever played in the much-fabled Orange Bowl Stadium, which is expected to be demolished in favor of a Major League Baseball park.  The game will air at 8:00 PM on FOX College Sports.

According to Art McMaster, President and CEO of the Miss America Organization, Lauren Nelson’s performance at the final Orange Bowl game holds a special significance.  “Just as it will be the final football game at this stadium, it will also be Lauren’s final public performance as Miss America before she gives up her crown in Las Vegas at Miss America Live on January 26th.”

The Offense-Defense All-American Bowl is an annual all-star game featuring the very best high school football talent the country has to offer.  “Unlike other games that can be seen as marketing tools, we are working to make this game into a pure, annual tradition that athletes from all across the country can strive to become a part of,” said Matt Whittier, Offense-Defense All-American Bowl Director.  “We’re thrilled to have Miss America 2007 performing for us and know it will make this exciting game even more entertaining for our fans.”
